Making Your Bathroom A Relaxation Area
To survive the stress of the day, turn your bathroom into a haven of tranquility and take time for yourself. Here are some tips to succeed in making your bathroom a relaxation area.
Making your bathroom a relaxation area
The bathroom is the privileged room of the house to relax and let go. Give yourself a moment of intimacy, a bubble of tranquility to chase away all the accumulated stress. It only takes a few tricks to transform this room into a haven of relaxation. Choose from these ideas to create your spa at home.
– Get an armchair For your bathroom
Just take care of a few details to transform your bathroom into a space conducive to chasing away all tensions. It’s about creating a zen, soothing atmosphere. If you have enough space, install an armchair. Even a simple chair, with a comfortable seat, with a cushion, will be perfect.
Visually, this piece of furniture helps create a cozy atmosphere, conducive to relaxation. And from a very practical point of view, this armchair stretches out its arms to you to relax for a moment, listen to music, put a mask on your face⦠In this room, your privacy is (generally!) respected.
So take the opportunity to spend a long time there. And even without immersing yourself in the bath water, you can relax, in complete serenity.
– Lay out some green plants
Invite green into your bathroom. Plants have soothing and regenerating properties. Their proximity is very beneficial when you seek to recharge your batteries. If you are lucky enough to have natural light in your bathroom, take the opportunity to put a lush green plant, which will accompany you in your moments of relaxation.
The atmosphere of this room is warm and humid: tropical plants naturally like it. Some plants also have virtues to purify the air. However, be sure to ventilate regularly, so as not to bathe in too confined air.
And if you don’t have an opening to the outside, it doesn’t matter! A pretty flower, in a vase, is enough to bring a cheerful touch and create a relaxing atmosphere. Some potted plants are also perfect. The orchid is therefore highly recommended. It is also often found in spas, where it evokes Thailand, king country for massages. A beautiful white orchid will take you on a journey to the bewitching atmospheres of the Orient.
– Do not forget the comfort of the feet
The bath mat is an essential accessory to transform your bathroom into a unique relaxation area. Choose it very big, very thick. Do not hesitate to leave the usual framework of the small carpet with the dimensions of the basin, in short sponge. You can even choose to cover a large part of your floor. And for comfort as much as for the visual aspect, choose a thick material, dare the big curls, the long hairs. Relaxation guaranteed for your feet!
– Arrange some candles
Use and abuse candles. Their subdued light is very soothing, and the flickering of their flame invites you to daydream. A few candles, placed on the edge of the bathtub, or a nearby shelf, provide the ideal lighting for your moment of intimacy. You can also choose scented candles; it’s how you feel!
– A few drops of essential oils
Essential oils are your allies to immerse yourself in a deep feeling of relaxation and serenity. You can pour a few drops directly into the bath water. Also, placed in a diffuser, essential oils release their aromas and benefits throughout your bathroom. Thus, you can opt for the shower, if you prefer it to the bath, and enjoy the virtues of essential oils. Lavender is particularly recommended for driving away stress and anxiety. The sweet orange, with its subtle fragrance, is also perfect for relaxing.
– Bath salts
While essential oils are great for relaxing you, you can also add other relaxing ingredients to your bath. Bath salts pleasantly scent the water and the ambient air. If you arrange them in small bottles, as a decorative element, you will be able to smell their sweet fragrance, when the desire comes.
Also, indulge yourself with the wide range of scented bubbles, effervescent pebbles, sparkling pearls⦠Choose fragrances that touch you, and have fun. Relaxation comes first and foremost through pleasure.
– Think about music
If, in your bathroom, you are used to listening to the radio which broadcasts information, it is time to change the register! Tune into a music channel with soft accents, or program some relaxing background music.
There are specific CDs or playlists, with the sound of the waves or the chirping of small birds. Hearing is an essential sense for inducing a sense of relaxation. Listening to relaxing music has been proven to slow heart rate and lower blood pressure. And if you prefer to enjoy this moment in silence, that’s perfect too!
– get yourself some fluffy bath towels
Choose your bath towels carefully. How good it is to wrap yourself in a large, fluffy towel! It’s time to put those old, rough terrycloth towels away in a closet. Treat yourself to a beautiful bath set.
Bathrobe or towel? It’s a very personal choice. What matters is the thickness and softness of the material. The color also plays. And again, there are no rules. Listen to your feelings. Do you prefer blue that evokes the sea, warm red, or immaculate white? What matters is the quality!
– Warm up your towel
The hot towel is perfect for a cocooning feeling in your bathroom. Remember to put your towel on the radiator before your bath or shower, and the pleasure β when you get out β will be increased tenfold.
Another tip: take a small towel, warm it up, and put it over your eyes while you’re lounging in your bath. The soft warmth thus offered spreads slowly over your face, your eyes rest, your forehead relaxes. All you have to do is simply let yourself go.
