Round Face Make Up
Among women with round faces, many are self-conscious about their somewhat babylike features. But if you find yourself in this situation, did you know that makeup can help you restructure your face, lengthen it and refine it? Here is all you need to know about round face make up as well as some tips you need for refining your features with complexion, eye, eyebrow and lip makeup.
How do I know if I have a round face?
To find out if you have a round face, stand in front of a mirror and compare the space between your cheekbones and the space between your chin and the top of your forehead. If the spaces are equal, then you have a round face. If the space between your cheekbones is smaller than the space between your chin and your upper forehead, then you have an oval face.
The contouring technique to refine your round face
When you have a round face, makeup will aim to refine it. Contouring is a very practical makeup technique for refining and sculpting your face.
To refine your face and bring out your cheekbones with the contouring technique, you will need two foundations: a foundation that is slightly lighter than your usual foundation (but which remains close to your skin tone) and a foundation that is darker. The light foundation will be used to highlight and give volume to your T zone, while the dark foundation will be used to deepen it.
Take a large brush and apply the darkest foundation in the hollows of your cheeks (to create an impression of shadow). Then apply the lighter shade to the most prominent parts of the face that you want to highlight: the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, the forehead and the chin.
Be careful, contouring takes a lot of time if you want to achieve a perfect result!
Blush to highlight a round face
If you don’t want to use the contouring technique, because you don’t have the time or the equipment, blush can help you highlight your round face.
Concerning the shade of the blush, it should be slightly darker than that of your foundation (one shade higher). As for the color of the blush, it depends on your skin color:
- Pink and light pink for fair skin
- Orange or apricot for tanned skin
- Rosewood for dark skin
To apply your blush, use a large brush and apply from the top of the cheekbone to the hollow of the cheek.
How to conceal a double chin when you have a round face?
Makeup can work miracles to highlight a round face, even concealing your double chin! To do this, you can use the sculpting technique, widely used by makeup professionals.
Take a light concealer and apply a touch on the chin. Then, with a dark powder, put shadow under the jawline (be careful not to use too much). To finalize your makeup, blur the line between the two.
Round face: what makeup for the eyes?
Eye makeup can help you highlight your round face and refine your features in the same way as facial and cheek makeup. To do this, you must first stretch the eye to give them an almond shape.
You can achieve this result with eyeliner: draw a line that you stretch from the outer corner of the eye towards the temples. Next, apply an eye shadow with volume, finishing with a layer of shadow on the inner corner of the eye. The color of your eyeshadow will depend on the color of your eyes:
- RosΓ© or plum for green eyes
- Copper for brown eyes
- Orange (or other warm colors) for blue eyes
- Gold, beige or taupe for dark eyes
- Black, gray or brown for light eyes
Finally, finish your eye makeup with a good coat of mascara to add volume to your lashes and lengthen them.
Round face make up: how to do the eyebrows?
Eyebrows can also radically change the structure of your face: if you have a round face, you can refine your features by reshaping your eyebrows. To do this, lightly pluck your eyebrows (at the outer part) to enlarge your eyelid, and accentuate the arc effect with a pencil (half a shade darker than the shade of your hair) to thicken your eyebrows.
Favor arched eyebrows, which break up the roundness of the face, over rounded eyebrows, which only reinforce it.
what makeup for the lips?
Lip makeup helps draw attention to your mouth rather than your cheeks and thus breaks up the roundness of your face. To do your lips, start by outlining your lips with a pencil, giving more volume to the curves. Next, choose your lipstick color:
- For fair skin: bright red for a luscious mouth and pale pink or beige for a discreet mouth
- For tan to dark skin: carmine red, orange, purpleβ¦
Generally speaking, you should avoid shiny lipsticks: matte shades can further blur the roundness of your features.
