Round Face Hairstyles
You have a round face ? To highlight it or reduce its roundness as desired, here are some round face hairstyles adapted to your facial shape.
How to recognize a round face?
A round face has approximately the same distance from the chin to the top of the forehead and from side to side of the face at the cheekbones. It is also defined by its absence of angular features both at the level of the jaw and the forehead and by its soft curves, often also by prominent cheekbones which give a slightly childish look, a “cartoon face”. The full face, sometimes seen as a flaw, is on the contrary easy to highlight.
Round face hairstyles : what is the ideal cut?
It all depends on the texture of the hair, but “a mid-length cut, at collarbone level, with an unstructured square base and moving bangs” seems ideal. The idea? Create a straight but tapered line on the ends. This cut is suitable for both straight and curly hair, as long as you distribute the volume well. We are therefore looking for the gradient on the top of the head to give volume and remove volume on the side.
Can you have bangs with a round face?
You have to take into account the shape of the eyes and eyelids, but long bangs can be very pretty when you’re trying to highlight a round face. You radiate with highlighted cheekbones and eyes. Also, you will have to think about working according to hair color. To reduce the roundness, on the contrary, opt for bangs at the eyebrow level with movement, while layering everything around the face.
Can we try short hairstyles?
You can rock a short hairstyle with a round face, as long as you opt for a very unstructured, tousled faux-short – it works very well on fine hair in particular. On curly hair itβs also very pretty if you separate the curls. You have to βfeel the textureβ, a bit like when you come off the beach. The neck must also remain dressed. Play with hair on the earlobe and add volume to the top of the head to create movement.
Mistakes to avoid
The mistakes to avoid will concern the round face with a small neck. If you choose a short cut, the nape of the neck must at all costs remain ultra feminine (with many small strands).
Another cut that is not recommended: the plunging bob. Itβs the cut that doesnβt fit anyone, unless thereβs extremely important maintenance. After 15 days, we tend to have two weights on the side with this plunging side which ends up pulling downwards.
Finally, it is better to avoid “cuts with too square a base” on a round face: you end up with volume on the sides which will round the entire face even more. It doesnβt suit anyone to have volume on the side, but itβs even more noticeable on a round face.
And to highlight your cut?
You can choose to work a little with color, again with this idea of seeking movement. To highlight the cut and color, you can use creams or serums, looking for a very pretty “foufou” effect on curly hair, or even a spray of sea water, rather on short, straight hair or on the roots of long hair. In any case, you should avoid changing your hair texture with curling irons, etc. You can do it lightly by adding movement, but it damages the hairβ¦ The idea is to make do with what you have.
You can possibly have fun with color. It’s the cut and the color that will give depth, by playing on points of light for example, without having to transform your hair type and damage it.
