Body Care Routine For Oily Skin

When we think of skincare routines, facial care is the first thing that comes to mind. Body care products are often wrongly ignored. Today, we suggest you include in your daily routine a routine based on gestures and products dedicated mainly to your body which tends to be oily. Its objective is simple: to combine sensoriality and efficiency in order to offer you hydrated and soft skin while making you happy.

What is oily skin?

Oily skin is simply an excessive functioning of the sebaceous glands, which secrete too much sebum. This is what will give it its shiny appearance. It is also a favorable ground for the development of pimples, microcysts, comedones, or even a dull complexion. The skin appears thick, its grain is often irregular and the pores dilated.

Conversely, dry skin will tend to be sometimes rough and / or uncomfortable. There is no shine, the pores are fine and not very visible. If you have the slightest doubt, do our quick diagnosis to discover your skin type, its condition and how to take care of it with healthy products.

Where does oily or combination skin come from?

Several situations can cause oily skin, including hormonal imbalance with an excess of androgens, male hormones, present in both men and women. Puberty is a risky period since hormones strongly stimulate the secretion of sebum on the face. In adulthood, it is rather pollution, tobacco, stress, fatigue that are at the origin of excess sebum.

Actions to adopt to treat oily skin

-Do not irritate the skin

The first commandment to follow is to absolutely not irritate the skin with aggressive cleansers and scrubbers, at the risk of causing what is called the “rebound effect”, that is to say an overproduction of sebum.

Cleanse gently

To take care of your oily skin, the golden rule is to cleanse your skin carefully in the shower. Wash your skin with a gentle body wash, ideally a cold-saponified soap, to properly remove impurities, sebum and pollution.

Choose the right products

Pay close attention to labels to find the right products for your skin. By avoiding treatments containing alcohol, drying out and removing comedogenic ingredients from your beauty routine, oily skin problems will be greatly limited. Indeed, skin that is too “oily” is weakened and/or damaged skin, which protects itself by producing more sebum.

Moisturize daily

Contrary to popular belief, vegetable oils, which are not or only slightly comedogenic, are not incompatible with oily skin. In fact, it’s quite the opposite! They will formerly come as a natural protective barrier, thus allowing the skin to regulate itself and become less greasy. Grassy skins particularly benefit from vegetable oils.

Exfoliate your body

Carry out a gentle and natural scrub to exfoliate your body once a week, at the most, is a valuable “beautiful skin” ally. Do not use a scrub with large grains that are too aggressive for your oily skin, opt instead for an exfoliating lotion or better, an enzymatic scrub, i.e. a scrub without grains.

Make purifying body masks

Here again, one mask per week is more than enough if your routine is adapted. For example, you can make masks based on clay powder (red, white, rhassoul, etc.) or plant powders (sidr, reetha, etc.). Make sure to moisten clay and/or plant masks if they start to dry out, otherwise your skin will dry out.

Eat a balanced diet

It’s no secret: fried and fatty foods, sodas and alcohol are the worst enemies of a dream complexion! Eat a balanced diet and drink at least 1.5 liters of water per day, your skin will thank you.

Clean your accessories

Whether it’s brushes, sponges or anything else you apply to your face and body, you should clean them as often as possible, because they are real breeding grounds for bacteria.

Leave your acne alone

Touching your pimples too often excites the sebaceous glands and therefore activates the production of sebum. When faced with a pimple, wether on your face or body, resisting the temptation to pop it can be difficult, but necessary, otherwise the situation will get worse. By touching it, you not only risk superinfecting it (because of the bacteria present on your hands), it will then take much longer to go away, in addition to inflaming it, making it more visible.

By adopting this gentle and simple routine, adapted to your skin, you will be able over time to find a softer, smoother skin, less dilated pores and much less oily skin. And you, what are your natural tips for treating oily skin?
