Pequi Oil For Hair

Could pequi oil be the secret of Brazilian beauty? This vegetable oil from a Brazilian fruit, similar to coconut oil in texture, is increasingly popular for its benefits on the skin and hair. Find out how to use pequi oil for hair.

What is Pequi Oil?

Pequi oil comes from the pequi, a yellow fruit native to Brazil. To produce oil from the pequi, the pulp of the fruit is cold pressed. The texture of the oil thus obtained is very similar to coconut oil because it solidifies below 25Β°C. It is smooth and not too greasy.

What are the benefits of Pequi oil for hair?

Pequi oil is very rich in fatty acids, vitamins A and E (antioxidants) and omega 9, which is why it is used by Brazilian women to deeply nourish the skin or hair. Its texture makes it a very pleasant oil to apply: it penetrates easily and is suitable for all types of hair (dry hair, brittle hair, split ends, curly hair, frizzy hair, unruly hair, hair weakened by coloring, etc.).

Not only is pequi oil nourishing, but it will also prolong the shine of colored hair. And even if you don’t have colored hair, it brings shine to your hair: it’s the ally of dull hair.

Pequi oil is also used to soothe and regenerate the skin. It is therefore ideal for calming irritations and inflammations of the skin and scalp. If you have a sensitive, irritated or itchy scalp, applying pequi oil with gentle massage movements will help relieve it.

It is often used to treat frizzy or curly hair for its softening properties. It will smooth frizz and soften curls.

How to properly use Pequi oil in hair care?

You can use pequi oil:

  • Before the shampoo, by applying it to the hair as a mask and leaving it to act between 1 hour and overnight;
  • With the shampoo, by adding a few drops of pequi oil to your shampoo;
  • After the shampoo, as a conditioner spray on damp hair, to redraw your curls, or only on the ends.
  • Pieui oil can be used alone or in synergy with another vegetable oil such as jojoba oil.

  • 1 teaspoon of pequi oil

  • 4 teaspoons Abyssinian vegetable oil
  • Apply to the lengths on your wet and washed hair, insisting on the ends.

This treatment can be kept for 6 months away from light and heat.

Pequi Oil Dry Ends Serum

To make a homemade dry ends serum with pequi oil, mix:

  • 1 tablespoon pequi oil
  • 2 tablespoons shea butter
  • 4 drops of vitamin E (it keeps the mixture for 6 months)
  • Melt the shea butter and the pequi oil to obtain a liquid texture and mix. Leave to cool before adding the vitamin E then leave to harden for 20 minutes in the refrigerator. Then, apply to the tips, massaging well to make the treatment penetrate the hair fiber.
