Exfoliating Mitt
Originally from Morocco and particularly practiced in hammams, body scrub is now an integral part of body care. How does the exfoliating mitt or glove complete this technic ?
The use of an exfoliating mitt can thus complete the shower ritual while softening and improving the skin. Different shapes and materials of scrub gloves are available today, Let’s take stock down below.
Using an exfoliating mitt
Regularly using a scrub mitt has many benefits on the appearance of the skin. The exfoliating glove allows to:
- Remove dead skin accumulated in the upper surface of the epidermis;
- Eliminate impurities caused by pollution, sweat or dust;
- Prepare the skin for hair removal and prevent the appearance of ingrown hairs;
- Stimulate blood circulation and promote venous return;
- Soften and firm the skin without irritating it;
- Reduce the orange skin appearance, especially on the thighs and buttocks.
It is recommended not to exfoliate the skin of the body more than twice a week.
How to use it
Using an exfoliating glove is particularly easy and exfoliating can be done directly in the shower on damp skin. The steps to follow are as follows:
apply black soap or any other exfoliating body product to wet skin;
- Rinse the skin;
- Slide the hand into the glove then massage the skin of the body by performing circular gestures;
- Rinse the deposit created by the massage;
- Once the skin is dry, it is advisable to apply a moisturizing and soothing cream to all the exfoliated areas.
Exfoliating too hard can promote the appearance of red patches on areas where the skin is thinnest, such as the chest or the neck.
Which scrub glove material to choose?
Many materials can be used to make a scrubbing glove. Among them are:
- Plant materials such as hemp, cotton, cactus or even bamboo.
- Horsehair, which may come from the fibers of certain palm trees.
- Silicone, the glove is then generally equipped with pimples to stimulate the areas of the body affected by cellulite.
- In sisal, taken from the plant of the same name, or in loofah: these plant fibers are known to be particularly effective on the thickest and roughest areas of the body.
- In vegetable crepe.
It is advisable not to use an exfoliating glove for the face and to turn to natural or konjac sponges.
