Ramadan is a month of physical sacrifice and spiritual repentance, during which devout Muslims abstain from eating and drinking between sunrise and sunset. It symbolizes dedication, thoughtfulness and discipline.

Fasting helps us understand the anguish and suffering endured by the millions of people living in famine and poverty around the world. However, lack of water, disturbed sleep and poor diet can take a toll on the body and skin.

Ramadan gives you an extra chance to combat acne, rosacea or just spotty skin, as it offers many benefits for your skin and body through fasting, as long as you use it wisely! Here is what you need to do to care of your skin during the holy month!

No makeup during the day

If you no longer wear makeup during the day, that doesn’t mean you can go out with “bare” skin. On the contrary, take advantage of it to nourish and protect it as best as possible. Apply a good moisturizer and a high protection sunscreen. Otherwise, the tinted sunscreen or BB cream option is a good alternative.

A detox once a week

In the evening, shortly after you break fast, gently remove make up to remove the impurities accumulated throughout the day, even if you do not wear makeup. Get rid of dead skin and small waste by using a gentle exfoliant, for example in the form of a small grainy gel. Treat yourself to a homemade steam bath to unclog your pores. Simply lean your towel-covered head over a bowl of boiling water for about 10 minutes. Vacuum up stubborn impurities using an absorbent mask, such as clay. To soothe the skin, pass a cotton pad soaked in rose water. Finally, apply your night cream or serum or even organic argan oil.

-hydrate, hydrate, and then hydrate

If the day is made up of fasting, the evening or even the night must be well watered… with water! Don’t go anywhere without a bottle of water and drink an average of one large glass of water per hour. Also, favor fruits over sweets, especially melon and watermelon which are known for their high water content. At shour time, same old song, drink as much water as possible and take the opportunity to rehydrate the skin if necessary.

The right diet

And yes, to have beautiful skin you have to watch your diet. Once you get over the desire for Ramadan delicious goods, remember to balance your meals. Exit excessive sugars, unlimited fat and disproportionate meals! Remember that everything that happens inside is reflected outside. So favor detox foods in your menus: grapes, avocado, nuts, garlic, cabbage, broccoli, artichoke, rice, beets, fennel… All green vegetables are excellent for the skin since they are rich in calcium!
