Jamaican Black Castor Oil For Hair

We hear more and more about Jamaican black castor oil, as a skin care oil but also as a hair care. What is JBC? With which it is often confused? What are its benefits and how to use it to benefit from it? Find out everything you need to know about Jamaican black castor oil for hair.

What is Jamaican black castor oil?

Jamaican black castor oil, also known as Carapace oil, is a dark-colored vegetable oil extracted from the seeds of the common castor bean (Ricinus comunis), a tropical shrub in the Euphorbiaceae family. It has been known for millennia to treat skin and joint problems, but not only.

The Egyptians were already using it around 4000 BC in the form of an ointment. JBC oil is also used in cosmetic hair care. It repairs, nourishes and strengthens the hair fiber, while cleansing the scalp and accelerating hair growth. Indeed, it is rich in nutrients (fatty acids and vitamins).

Benefits of JBC oil for hair

Jamaican black castor oil is recommended for the care of dry, curly and frizzy hair. It is rich in nutrients and active ingredients (in particular (vitamin E, omega 6 and omega 9); it will therefore protect, repair, strengthen and soften the hair at the same time. It nourishes the hair fiber and makes the hair more flexible.

JBC also helps fight split ends by sheathing and revitalizing the hair fiber: if you like to have long hair but it tends to get damaged quickly, this vegetable oil is your ally for healthy lengths.

Carapate oil also has benefits on the scalp since it is beneficial for the skin. Its anti-infective properties will help you fight scalp infections by cleansing it. Finally, JBC oil, like castor oil, stimulates hair growth. It is therefore an excellent support in case of alopecia or following chemotherapy. It will help the hair to grow back stronger and thicker.

How to use JBC oil as hair care?

Black castor oil can be used directly on the hair to nourish and strengthen it. It will then be applied to dry, clean hair (or to damp hair if you are not using a heating device to dry it), emphasizing the ends.

To make an oil bath with carapate oil, apply it evenly from root to tip, then leave on for several hours or overnight. The next morning, rinse and wash with a mild shampoo. If you don’t have time to do an oil bath, apply JBC oil as a hair mask, leaving it on for 15 minutes to 1 hour.

Carapate oil can also be applied in gentle massage movements on the scalp, in order to revitalize the scalp and soothe irritations.

To make your hair shiny, you can slightly heat the carapate oil before applying it, for example between your palms.

With which vegetable oils should JBC oil be used?

JBC oil can be used in synergy with other vegetable oils or with essential oils. Combining it with another vegetable oil will also make it more fluid. Here are some examples of possible synergies:

  • With coconut oil or olive oil for nourishment and hair repair
  • With blended banana to nourish the hair
  • With black cumin oil and essential oil of peppermint or clary sage to stimulate hair growth
  • With nigella oil and tea tree essential oil to fight dandruff.

To make a nourishing and fortifying hair mask based on carapate oil, you can mix 4 tablespoons of carapate oil with 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil, 2 tablespoons of avocado oil , and a few drops of an essential oil of your choice depending on the desired results.

Mix everything in a container then apply the mixture directly in the form of a mask, on dry hair, massaging the scalp well and emphasizing the lengths and dry or split ends. Leave on for 30 minutes, covering with a warm towel, then rinse and wash your hair with a mild shampoo.

Choosing the right Jamaican Black Castor oil

To enjoy the benefits of carapate oil on your hair, you should choose a 100% pure and natural carapate oil. Opt for, as soon as possible, a black castor oil that has been extracted according to the traditional method.

You can buy carapate oil in pharmacies, specialized stores or on the Internet, but beware, it is more difficult to find than castor oil! The price is about the same as for castor oil. Then keep it in a dry place away from light and moisture.

JBC oil has extraordinary benefits for your hair, especially if you have frizzy, dry and fragile hair. It is applied as a hair mask, in an oil bath or as a scalp massage. Either way, the choice of product is important: the purer and more natural the chosen black castor oil, the more miracle effect it will have on your hair!
