Skin Irritations
Skin irritations: how to identify and treat them?
What is irritated skin?
Skin irritations and rashes are the fate of skin that lives, is damaged and repairs itself. Our skin constitutes our first shield against the outside world and, every day, it protects us from numerous attacks. But, sometimes, it’s “too much”: certain factors alter this skin barrier and cause inflammation.
Redness, swelling, patches, burning, tightness, itching… skin irritations are expressed in different forms and occur on various parts of the body, even in the most intimate areas. It is important to identify the cause in order to treat them appropriately. Your skin needs you: give it a boost to soothe it and help it repair itself…
Irritated skin or allergies: how to differentiate them?
Redness on the face, patches on the arms, pimples between the fingers or at the corner of the eye…when the skin cries for help, we want to find an explanation. And, sometimes, we ask ourselves the question: allergy or “simple” skin irritation?
Irritated skin or rashes are generally much more common than true skin allergies. They correspond to a rather localized inflammation, at the point of contact with an irritating factor.
Contact skin irritations: the most common
Among the most common skin irritations, contact irritations (“irritative dermatitis”). Repeated rubbing of clothing on the chin, friction of the skin between the thighs, irritation of an athlete who is sweating, reaction to a poorly tolerated product (cream, detergent, etc.), but also small everyday ailments…there are many occasions contact with aggressor agents! How to soothe your irritated skin with a few simple steps.
Treating skin irritations on the face or body: advice for irritated skin
As you can see, there are multiple causes of skin irritation. So, obviously, the solutions vary depending on… However, you can overcome most of them with a few simple actions. Are we calming down?
- Let the skin rest by stopping the use of any suspicious products.
- Clean the skin with a product with physiological pH.
- Apply a suitable and well-tolerated treatment to help your skin repair itself.
- Protect your skin from the sun with a very high protection sunscreen.
Take care of your skin by choosing cosmetic products with optimal tolerance for sensitive skin (with a minimum of constituents) and avoiding climatic aggressions (cold, heat, wind, sun). Also remember to monitor your lifestyle: avoid aggressive factors such as tobacco, alcohol, certain foods and, of course…stress.
