What is it?

Saussurea costus, commonly called Indian costus, is a flowering plant native to Asia. Dosage

It is recommended to test a very small quantity before starting the treatment to check that there are no allergies to the plant.

Precautions for use

  • Rare mild side effects have been observed in some people after taking Indian costus such as mild dizziness and nausea. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers it generally safe.
  • However, it should be avoided in people with an allergy to plants in the daisy family such as artichoke, aster, common burdock, cosmos, chrysanthemum, dahlia, dandelion, ragweed, thistle and zinnias.
